Hail To The Sweep

I don't care how ugly it was. I'll take last night's win and the sweep of the Nationals. Here's something to think about. The Mets have won both games started by Nelson Figueroa. And the bullpen threw seven scoreless innings last night.

Let's not celebrate too much though. The Mets hitting was horrendous. Twenty-five runners left on base and seventeen strikeouts. Better hitting means more wins and a bullpen that doesn't get worn out early in the season.

This series wasn't much of a test. We played the Nats after all. This was merely prep for a very important series against the Phillies this weekend. Look for Johan to bounce back from a tough outing to start the series right with a win in the game tonight.

Let's Go Mets!

The Gnats

Well it looks like we swapped catchers and right fielders with the Nationals and I have the sinking feeling that they got the better end of the deal. Too bad it had to be a team that we see so much of during the season, and we will be forced to compare Schneider and Church vs. Lo Duca and Milledge repeatedly. Oh yeah, and Acta vs. Randolph. That team is quickly becoming the ex-Mets club, and will have something to prove every time we see them.

Mets Get It Done

The Mets got their first series sweep since early May this weekend. In doing so they met my expectations in taking five of six games on the road trip.

I'm definitely encouraged by what looks like the resurgence of Carlos Beltran. More great pitching by El Duque. What does he eat for breakfast?
